Common questions

The shortcut doesn't open the search box

Another app may already use Control-Option-Space. Open Refrain's Settings and pick Control-Option-P, Option-Command-P or Shift-Option-Space instead. Every snippet is also in the menu bar, so you can click one while you sort out the shortcut.

Where are my snippets stored?

In one markdown file at the location you picked the first time you opened Refrain. Settings shows the path and lets you move it. Refrain never uploads it; if you keep the file in iCloud Drive or Dropbox, that service syncs it like any other document.

I edited the file and Refrain didn't change

Refrain reloads the file as soon as it's saved. If it doesn't, check that the file is still at the path shown in Settings. Each snippet starts with a ## Title line.

Moving to a new Mac

Copy your snippets file to the new Mac (or keep it in iCloud Drive), install Refrain, and choose that file in Settings.

Bought from the Mac App Store?

Reinstall any time from the Purchased page of the App Store app, signed in with the same Apple Account. Refunds for App Store purchases go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Bought from this website?
