Privacy

Refrain, the macOS app, reads and writes one markdown file at a location you pick on first launch. It does not phone home. No accounts, no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporters. Your prompts never leave your Mac unless you put the file somewhere that syncs (iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Syncthing).

The website

This site runs Google Analytics (GA4) for aggregate traffic counts and, when configured, PostHog for session replay and scroll depth. Meta, Reddit, X, and TikTok pixels may load if you've agreed to accept cookies (see the footer). Stripe processes payments directly; we never see your card number. An email address used at checkout is stored in Stripe so you can re-download later via /get-the-app/recover.
